quality wines - 11/30/01 03:54 PM

We would like to bring a good wine as a gift for our host on Dec. 25. Does anyone know the good labels in Spain? Can we judge by price?

How much do you want to spend? Are you going to buy it on the USA? how much does your host
know about wine?

I'm buying the wine in Madrid. It should be a quality gift since it will be from 4 of us to our host. I think he does know something about wine. By the way, Andre, I am Joyce who will be bar hopping with you on Dec. 22! Gusto conocerte!

Más gusto el mio!!

All right, one is always afraid to advice on wine since tastes are you different, but let´s try all
the same:

White:
Name: Raimat Seleccion especial
Region: Costers del Segre
Grape: Chardonnay
Nose: vanilla, milk-butter, smoked
Mouth: oily, scented, creamy, toasted
Price: about 7$
I had it today at lunch, the wine is excellent.

Red:
Name: Enate Merlot-Merlot
Region Somontano
Grape: Merlot
Nose: black fruits(mermelade), toasted, mineral.
Mouth: Meaty, tasty excellent tannins, balanced acidity.
Price: about 15$
I haven't tried it yet but Spanish wine-guru
Peñin chose it as the best red wine for that
price. I have tried other enates and they
have class.

Where to buy them?:
