Hi! My son and I want to take the night train from Madrid to Lisbon (and back) on specific nights when we are in Spain in August. I have heard that it's difficult to get reservations with just a few days notice in-country at that time of year. I see that the Renfe website has some online services but they don't book that particular train online. Does anyone have any idea how we can get reservations in advance before we leave the US so we can be sure to get the dates we want? Thanks in advance for your help!

The overnight train from Madrid to Lisbon is a "Lusitania". Try http://www.raileurope.com ....which should allow you to book this segment and buy any railpass you may need for your stay in Spain etc.
