Spent two nights at Hostal el Reposo de Bagdad recently and highly recommend this hostal. The hostal is operated by two sisters, Marilo and Irma, who were among the most helpful people we meet on our recent visit to Spain. They have taken a building that was virtually in ruins not that long ago and have turned it into a very relaxing oasis smack in the middle of the Old Jewish Quarter. Because it is in the Quarter, the alleyways are very small, thus voices and other sounds carry, (i.e. motos), so it was a bit noisy for sleeping, but we kept the very large window open for fresh air and still were able to get a good nights sleep. There was an overhead fan for moving air, which was a big help as it got quite warm while we were there, and it was not even August or September. The rooms are very small, as is the in-suite bathroom, so if you are the Hilton / Sheraton / Marriott type, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a bed and bathroom at a reasonable price, in a very charming location, this is the place to stay. It is only a five-minute walk to the Mezquita, just beyond “Puerto de Almodovar” entrance to the Quarter. There is a very pleasant interior courtyard and would cool anyone, even on the hottest day. The sisters are continuing to work on the property and plan to add a tea- room in the very near future. They are located at Fernandez Ruano 11.
