After searching for comments on both of these hostals in BCN I haven't been able to find much. Is any familiar with either one? Has anyone stayed at Hostal San Remo ?

Have not stayed at San Remo but booked with them.
Staying with them for abt 5 nights, end of March.

Quite happy with quick email replies from them.
I was given an exterior room with balcony.

After booking with them, was quite pleased to read good reviews abt them in travel guidebooks.
