I had a fine time staying at the Hostal Martin in early August, we (the management and I)communicated well by email, and the labyrinthine passage back to my quiet airconditioned room was very interesting - I felt very insulated from the madness along C/ Atocha. Needless to say, the location was excellent, the room spotless, the management obliging and friendly, wonderful after my less than enjoyable sidetrip to Athens. ¡Thanks for the information Madridman!
