It seems that the british pound is still on its way down. for the first time in the 5 years that I have been in Madrid it is now actually cheaper for me to buy things in the UK rather than here!

I am about to by my wife an iPod on Amazon UK and it works out almost €45 cheaper than buying it here in Madrid (for the prices I have seen anyway).

So, if anyone is thinking of buying pressies, check out Amazon.co.uk for prices as well, you might find stuff cheaper (especially gadgets and electronics).

I "sent" my European nephews a Christmas gift certificate through Amazon.co.uk and, because of the exchange rate from British Pounds to Euros, it ended up being almost HALF the Euro cost for the same gift amount from last year. thumbsup

By the way, what are "pressies"??

funny i load up on goodies while in Madrid early December and even thus I was buying euros vs euros, I found Madrid prices to be 5-10 euros cheaper on electronics, media etc, and way cheaper in food items than in France. THe only problem is the salaries are way low too ::)

I've noticed the same thing, I usually order everything via amazon.de (lived there for 7 years to comfortable with German) but of recent I've noticed things are actually cheaper in the UK!!! In particular teachers books.

The cheapest place still is the good old US of A, especially if your paid in Euros.
