...Hi All, With the sad state of the Spanish (and rest of the world) economy there must be some good bargains to be had in real estate. I would be grateful if anyone could provide some links to good realtors that specialize in Mijas, not far from Malaga.
...Thanks

i went to Mijas last saturday what a beautiful village it is well worth the visit
not being into the buying and selling of property game myself,i would be very surprized to see any bargains being had in this village, a massive tourist attraction (and i can see why)the quaint little streets and shops, views, bullring, restaurants,a lot of the property is handed down to generations and when it does go up for sale there will be so much interest from outside the price (in my opinion) will go up rather than down.
i just think its one of those places where people who own do not need to sell a lot were born there and know nothing else. and if you are realy lucky to have one to rent there will always be demand for these places

Hi Neddie! Are you ONLY interested in Mijas or also in the rest of Spain? Please let me know and I'll update your subject line to reflect your area of interest. Thanks!

A British friend told me just last night about a 120m2 piso in Estepona (not far from Marbella/Málaga) for sale with 2BR, community swimming pool, and garden view for 175,000 Euros. She said it was a steal at that price and her friend was buying it. What a great price! Even she couldn't believe the bargains available along the Costa del Sol.

Saludos, MadridMan

...thanks MM...yes my primary interest is Mijas. I see that there is a "Costa Mijas" or maybe it is "Mijas Costa" which i assume is seafront. The Mijas that i am thinking of is slightly inland basically on the side of a hill and probably the original village. I realize that it is a full blown village/town now but i go back to around 1962 when Mijas was just a few white homes on the hillside inhabited by locals and aspiring writers and artists. In those days Torremelinos was all the rage and Marbella was just getting cranked up for the "jet set".

...I am also interested in El Puerto de Santa Maria...just up from Cadiz....but i think it gets quite windy there!!

....thanks Billy....those wretched tourists...hehe

yes property on the whole has gone down in price by as much as 30% in some areas, but buyer beware of the paperwork needed, you should familiarise yourself with Spanish property laws even before seen an attorney ::)

the area in question is loaded with expats as much prefer the sunshine and I like it to be concentrated there hehehehe::)

Puerto de Santa Maria yes windy but great sherry ! port. you should look at these sites for browsing and info
