I'll need some good maps for hillwalking, 1:25000 or 1:50000.
Does anyone know of a map specialist in Madrid?
I remember I've been into one but I'm not sure where it was exactly.

The best one in Madrid is La Tienda Verde (English Website). It has two sites in Maudes street at #23 and 38. The closest Metro station is Cuatro Caminos.

great I'll check it out, I've been hunting high and low for a street map of Madrid and area and haven't been able to find anything that is good for the car. There are loads of Madrid maps but they only cover the city centre or the whole of Spain. Rob

Mapomaniac galore next time I go to Madrid then.
Not only was the Tienda Verde full of 1:50000 maps and more, the staff was extremely helpful.
You can buy their maps online too, but of course it's much more fun being in the shop!

Rob, There's a map called Mapa de Madrid y alrededores, 1:170 000 if I remember it correctly. I don't remember which publisher. Maybe that's what you are looking for?
But there are some in between that one and and city centre maps too I think.
