Looking to buy a decent pair for serious bird watcher and want to know if there is better value for money in spain on such items,also is bartering the way to go?

I don't know if you'll get a better price in Madrid, but I am sure you will find a great selection.

I was in the market for a compact "spy" monocular when in Madrid. I hunted for one wherever I went, asked in stores etc. Some even said "it does not exist". Well I ended up buying 3 in total. It took a while but I found one a stones throw from Puerta del Sol, and I found another in a little booth in the "Xanadu" shopping centre.

Know what you are looking for and know what it is worth before you buy.
