Barcelona: Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet - 12/08/05 02:38 PM

I am thinking about visiting this place at the end of this month. Can anyone tell me if it is worth it? How far is it outside of Barcelona? I don't think it is a touristy spot, but if any has in info it is greatly appreciated.

The towns of Santes Creus and Poblet both situated west of Barcelona have two of the 3 Monasteries that form the “Cistercian triangle”. The trip is about 1 hour from Barcelona.

I think it is definitely worth a visit. A fine piece of Cistercensian architecture with a lot of spiritual radiation.

Poblet is not as crowded as Montserrat, but it has his fare share of tour busses all the same.

The monastery has 15 single rooms, but only men are welcome for spiritual retreats.
